A Private Learning Center for Young Children

Cradles to Crayons Child Center, established in 1978, is a private learning center for young children.

The overriding philosophy at Cradles to Crayons Child Center is that all children are special and unique. Each child has his/her own individual rate of growth and his/her own distinctive pattern of acquiring skills and competencies.

The most important educators of a young child are his/her parents and family. Cradles to Crayons Child Center can assist parents and family in this awesome role by providing a child with optimal learning experiences and by providing families with appropriate development information.

Cradles to Crayons Child Center fosters a child's total development - social, emotional, intellectual, and creative. We understand that an effective program incorporates a variety of activities: free play, group play, quiet periods, physical or gross motor play and more lengthy activities to increase the child's attention span and listening ability. At Cradles to Crayons Child Center, our daily schedule provides time for all these important preschool activities.

Policy

• Open 7:00 a.m. – 6:00p.m.  Monday - Friday
• Available 52 weeks a year
  Closed only for major holidays and a few days between sessions
  - Winter session: September-June 30th
  - Summer session: July, August
• Flexible scheduling determined by individual needs; limited only by space available.
• Eligible for children:
  - 3 mo. old- to aged three years
  - Preschool children – ages three years to six years
  - After-kindergarten children – who attend area kindergarten classes. Limited
    transportation available.
• On Staff:
  - State of Connecticut certified teachers
  - Registered nurse
  - Consultants in education, medicine, dentistry, social services
• A superior nursery school program 8:30-12:00 daily with extended hour flexibility
• A homey infant-toddler program in a school setting
• Class size: from 8 to 14 students (varies with age group)
• Student-Teacher ratio: from 3:1 to 10:1 (varies with age group)
